New ride hailing rules coming for Uber in Niagara

It appears the Niagara Region will be the next area in Canada to adopt new rules governing ride hailing services like Uber.
The Police Services Board announcing it hopes to vote on a new bylaw at its June 23rd meeting.
In a media release, Board Chair Bob Gale says the objective of the new regulations will be to promote public safety and consumer protection by ensuring drivers and vehicles in both the ride hailing and taxi industries are safe and properly insured.
Gale adding the new regulations will provide a level playing field for the taxi industry.
If the board approves the new regulations next month, its anticipated the revised bylaw will take effect July 1st.
