Toronto’s northern neighbour the City of Vaughan has received an official plan application that proposes several high-rise structures at 7700 Bathurst Street, which backs on to Promenade Circle, BuzzBuzzHome has learned.

The City received the application on April 1st, according to Lucy D’Acunto, an administrative assistant with Vaughan’s Development Planning Department.

“It says that it’s for seven residential apartment buildings, 27 storeys in height with commercial uses at grade level, together with two low-rise commercial buildings,” D’Acunto tells BuzzBuzzHome News.

Outdoor amenity areas, grade parking, three-storey parking structure and three levels of underground parking are also included in the application.

The site is currently zoned for commercial uses, says D’Acunto, as per the City of Vaughan’s By-Law 188.

The application is tied to 3.3 hectares of lot five, concession two, of the triangular property at the southwest corner of Centre Street and Bathurst Street. D’Acunto says it is possible the address includes other land.

The Torgan Group, an Ontario property manager and developer, is currently leasing two retail spaces at the pyramidal Promenade Villages stripmall (pictured above) at 7700 Bathurst for 60-month terms, according to a posting updated 10 days ago. Edwin Buonanno, the property manager for the low-rise retail outlet, acknowledged The Torgan Group owned the site and was linked to the application via 1529749 Ontario Inc., the corporation that submitted it.

Late last year, BuzzBuzzHome News reported that commercial real estate giant Cadillac Fairview had put CF Promenade - known informally as Promenade Mall and located just across Promenade Circle from 7700 Bathurst - on the market.

Earlier this month, BuzzBuzzHome News broke news of the 879,000-square-foot mall’s possible sale to Michael and Simon Serruya, founders of Yogen Früz. The brothers opened their first location in the mall 20 years ago this summer.
