Plaza and Berkeley's The Met Joining Vaughan's New Downtown

As the TTC's Line 1 extends beyond the city limits into Vaughan, the suburban community north of Toronto is quickly becoming transformed with new urban density. Concentrated around the upcoming transit hub at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, a wave of institutional, commercial, and residential projects are now online. Along with the soon-to-be completed KPMG Vaughan office tower-and the upcoming YMCA/Library-residential developments, including the first Expo City towers, are already asserting a high-rise presence in Vaughan's nascent Downtown. Located directly alongside the highly anticipated subway station, Plaza and Berkeley's The Met will join the growing community, taking a central place in Downtown Vaughan.
Designed by Quadrangle Architects, the 35-storey tower will feature 511 residential units, capitalizing on the extended subway line that-as of late next year-will connect Vaughan to Downtown Toronto. The tower's one and two-bedroom suites will range in size from 510 ft² to 875 ft², while a collection of 62 townhouse units will feature homes upwards of 1,250 ft² in size.
The building's amenities will be grouped together on the ground level, potentially bringing a measure of vitality to the streetscape. While a rendering of the ground level shows part of the gym facing out onto the street (above), a new amenity plan maps the entirety of the street-level communal areas for the first time. Alongside an indoor spa, party room, games lounge, private kitchen, theatre, and yoga studio, the amenity area will also feature outdoor spaces, including a bar and bbq area.
Each condominium suite will feature a private balcony, while kitchens will be equipped with stainless steel refrigerators and dishwashers, as well as slide-in glass top stoves and in-built microwaves. Kitchens will also boast Moen faucets and undermount sinks, while bathrooms will be equipped with deep soaker tubs and glass-walled showers.
