Spectacular second-half goals from Malik Johnson and Raheem Edwards lifted Toronto FC II to a 2-1 road victory over FC Montreal at Olympic Stadium Saturday.

The win moves TFC II to 1-0-1 and four points heading into its home opener April 17 at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Shortly after entering the game as a substitute, Johnson opened the scoring in the 61st minute with an outstanding solo effort, evading several Montreal defenders during a sprint from just inside the attacking half before shifting to Montreal goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau's left and slotting the ball into the net.

Montreal's Ballou Jean Yves Tabla levelled the score in the 80th minute, but the Reds responded quickly.

The game winner came in the 84th minute, when Edwards sprinted up the left wing, beating an opposing defender and firing a left-footed shot past Crepeau.

TFC II keeper Alex Bono made several key saves early in the second half before Johnson broke the deadlock.

Kickoff for the home opener is at 4 p.m.
