Between mid-2014 and mid-2015, the region’s employment growth increased by 2.4 per cent, the report said.

Over the past five years, the region’s labour market has grown by an average annual rate of 3.1 per cent, outperforming the Canadian, Ontario and GTA economies, the report said.

York has almost businesses, making it the second highest in the GTA after Toronto.

As of mid-2015, there are about 577,600 jobs in the region.

The report surveyed 32,000 businesses last year.
