Vaughan proudly welcomed rising NBA star Andrew Wiggins back home. The All-Star weekend excitement was right here in the City of Vaughan as everyone applauded Andrew Wiggins back to his hometown of Thornhill, Vaughan on Feb. 13th as hundreds of people gathered at the Dufferin Clark Community Centre - the place where it all began for a young Wiggins. Adidas made a number of impressive renovations to the gymnasium and youth room that were later unveiled. City Council was in attendance and presented Andrew Wiggins with a custom #Vaughan25 jersey with Wiggins’ signature number 22. It was a celebration of what Andrew Wiggins means to the City of Vaughan. I had the privilege of interviewing Wiggins, ahead of his Rising Stars Challenge game. I had asked him to describe the experience of playing in front of his hometown peers during All-Star Friday’s event. “It was lovely. It was great playing in front of my home crowd, the fans were nothing but positive - it was good playing in front of my family and friends,” he said.
