Toronto transit thrown into disarray by power issues

Some people heading to work in downtown Toronto may arrive late this morning because of power issues affecting a stretch of the subway system and several key streetcar routes.
A hydro vault caught fire at about 1:30 a.m. near the south end of Yonge Street (near Richmond) and this has cut subway service on the north-south line between the Bloor and Osgoode stations.
The Toronto Transit Commission says shuttle buses are being used to ferry passengers around the affected stations.
There are also power issues affecting stretches of streetcar routes on several key downtown routes, including King, Queen, Dundas, Spadina and Harbourfront.
It’s not known when service will be able to resume.
