A new poll finds a slight increase in the number of Torontonians who are using Uber and that the dispute with taxi drivers is becoming more polarized.
The Forum Research Poll of 836 Torontonians conducted earlier this week finds 30 per cent have used the ride-sharing service, up from 28 per cent in December.
The survery also found that 42 per cent now strongly support Uber while 34 per cent support taxi drivers in their ongoing dispute.
“Ridership is still growing, and more voters take Uber’s side than the cabbies’ side in this ongoing dispute,” said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
“But the real change is that the battle is becoming more entrenched. The rider base for Uber is young and upwardly mobile, and the hardcore are using the service in place of a vehicle, developments which should worry the Toronto taxi industry.”
The results of the survey are considered accurate within plus or minus 3 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
