A Woodbridge-based manufacturer of ready-to-assemble cabinetry is expanding its operation thanks, in part, to nearly a million dollars in funding from the federal government.

Cutler Forestry products received a repayable contribution of $837,500 through Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario’s Investing in Business Growth and Productivity initiative, the agency announced last week.

The funding will go toward a $3.3-million expansion that will see Cutler consolidate its manufacturing operations at a single 195,000-square-foot facility.

The more than 40-year-old firm, which primarily produces kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, is also investing in new equipment to boost productivity and increase its exports to the United States.

It is expected that the company’s expansion project will create up to 40 full-time jobs by 2018.

“This investment will encourage growth and expansion for Cutler and will allow our company to focus on what is important,” Jonathan Glick, Cutler Forest Products president and CEO, said in a news release. FedDev Ontario funding will help create jobs and will present exciting challenges for Cutler, as we work towards expanding our operations and export opportunities.”
