It only seems fitting that a veteran employee with more than three decades of service to the City of Vaughan would be appointed to a leadership role in Vaughan’s 25th anniversary year as a city.
Mary Reali, who has been a Vaughan employee since 1985, when she began as a supervisor, has just been appointed to the position of deputy city manager of community services.
Reali was most recently director of recreation and culture, a post she’s held since 2008.
In her new position, she’ll be responsible for the community services portfolio. That includes Access Vaughan, bylaw compliance, licensing and permit services, facility maintenance services, fire and rescue service and recreation services.
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua saluted the new appointment.
“In the past 30 years, Mary Reali has grown with the City of Vaughan and been a true champion for community services. She is a mentor, role model and leader who embodies the values this City stands for – respect, accountability and dedication. Her greatest strength is her passion for working with people, which contributes to the quality of life in our community.”
