Vaughan's 25th Anniversary Ceremony
Snapd Woodbridge and Vaughan East
Feb. 2016
It’s a momentous occasion in Vaughan this year as the City marks its 25th anniversary. As the first city in York Region, Vaughan has experienced significant growth and transformational change throughout the last quarter-century. With major city-building initiatives underway, including the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension, Vaughan has become a major contributor to the success of the Region and the GTA. With a population of more than 320,000 people, 10,000 businesses and thousands of organizations, the City of Vaughan has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1991, where the population stood at just over 100,000.There were incredible performances by local talents and refreshments served throughout the day and Doo Doo the Clown led the roaring crowd. To honour Vaughan's 25th year, residents and visitors are encouraged to share memories, stories and pictures with the city that span over the last 25 years by using #Vaughan25 in all social media. The city will select a ‘Memory of the Month’ every 25 days that will be selected for a special feature on our city’s website and the City of Vaughan Facebook page.
