At its February 1 meeting, Oakville council approved its 2016 Active Transportation Capital Program. The plan will add 28 kilometres of cycling and pedestrian paths to the town’s 185-kilometre network. The approved projects include new on- road cycle lanes, off -road multi-use trails, signed bike routes and sidewalks. The town has also committed to increase the number of bike racks in downtown Oakville, continue its bike corral pilot project within three BIAs and implement a number of public education
and outreach projects.

Throughout 2016 the town will also continue reviewing and assessing its active transportation network to develop a larger scale capital rehabilitation program.
