Dog owners who've been howling about the need for an off-leash dog park in Vaughan's west end, now know where the city feels it ought to be built.
Councillors, at a committee of the whole meeting Tuesday, Dec. 6, approved a recommendation to have city staff review the feasibility of developing an off-leash park at the new district park to be built west of Hwy. 27 and south of Rutherford Road, behind the new FedEx Distribution Centre, as recommended by the city's consultant.
The off-leash park, with a projected cost of $200,000 to $250,000, could be completed in two to three years, if approved.
Councillors also directed staff to consult with the community about a suitable location for a pilot project to explore the feasibility of developing off-leash dog parks within smaller, local parks.
Council still has to ratify the committee’s decision.
