Plan Group Inc. has been chosen as the electrical sub-contractor for the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project.
The new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital is the first hospital to be built in the city of Vaughan and the first new hospital to be built in the York Region in the last 30 years. It will also be the first hospital in Canada to feature fully integrated smart technology.
The project’s scope includes the construction of a 367-bed, 1,200,000-square-foot full service acute care facility. The facility will incorporate a state-of-the-art emergency department, modern surgical services and operating rooms, advanced diagnostic imaging, specialized ambulatory clinics and intensive care beds. There will be approximately 90 per cent single occupancy acute-care patient rooms for infection prevention and control, and integrated smart digital technology systems that will deliver the right information to the right care location at the right time - all aimed to enhance the patient care experience.
Plan Group’s contract with PCL Constructors Canada Inc. will include electrical and low voltage systems, security systems and our Information, Communications and Automation Technology (ICAT) services.
“This is another opportunity for Plan Group to once again be on the forefront of innovation,” said Paul Sheridan, president and COO of Plan Group Inc. “We are very excited to bring our skills, experience and expertise to Canada’s first smart hospital.”
Plan Group has proven expertise in hospital construction and refurbishment projects. Over the last 10 years, Plan Group has worked on six major healthcare facilities, most notably Toronto’s Humber River Hospital, and is actively involved in five more.
