York Region’s unionized workers are getting a raise of 6.87 per cent over four years.
Council ratified a new collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 905 on Dec. 15.
The deal gives workers a 1.65 per cent wage increase retroactive to April 1, 2016.
Employees will then get a 1.74 per cent salary boost on April 1 of each of the next three years.
Union members ratified the deal on Dec. 7.
The contract covers approximately 2,800 staff who provide a number of services, including engineering for large infrastructure projects such as affordable housing, water and wastewater; maintenance for regional roads; paramedic services; and administrative support.
The region’s union members represented by the Ontario Nursing Association will see their contract expire next March.
