Vaughan is slapping its branding on York Region-owned water towers at the cost of about $10,000 a pop.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, council approved painting Vaughan’s logo on water towers within the city limits when they’re slated to be repainted.

The move is meant to “contribute to the city’s overall image and identity,” according to a staff report.

“Using the Vaughan logo on all towers would enable residents and visitors alike to easily identify where they are, and would reinforce the corporate brand,” the report said.

Kleinburg’s water tower is going to be branded first as it’s scheduled to be repainted next year.

Following that will be the one in West Woodbridge in 2020, then the East Woodbridge tower in 2023. Future water storage tanks in the northeast end of the city will be branded starting from 2025 onward, the report said.
