City of Vaughan staff and council members raised more than $100,000 for the United Way Toronto & York Region.
The city presented United Way Toronto & York Region president and CEO Daniele Zanotti with a cheque for $105,700.40. The bulk of the money was raised by city staff through a slew of initiatives - including an art mosaic wall, an I'm Thankful campaign where employees expressed their gratitude to each other with thank you cards and treats, as well as a speaker series - run as part of the city’s employee fundraising campaign dubbed, Together Vaughan Cares.
Those efforts raised $80,700.40. Then, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua announced an additional $25,000 raised through the Mayor's Gala and the Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic, bringing the total donation to $105,700.40.
