On October 4th, Riverwalk kicked-off as part of a pilot project conceived from the Older Adult Strategy. The initiative hopes to get residents outside and active utilizing the beautiful Humber River trail, along Nort Johnson Park, located right outside their doorstep. Inspired by Dr. Mike Evans’ video called “23 ½ hours”, a public information meeting and a community promotional campaign was launched to promote the incredible mental and physical health benefits of walking only 30 minutes a day. A special thank you to the following project team members: Vaughan Public Library (VPL), Vaughan Community Health Centre (VCHC), the Seniors Association of Vaughan Initiative (SAVI), Parks Development, Parks and Forestry Operations, Facility Maintenance Services, Environmental Sustainability, Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), Recreation Services and Ward 2 Councillor, Tony Carella.
