Give yourself more time to be thankful this weekend.
Thanksgiving means family gatherings, which means feasts that have to be prepared, and there is nothing worse than trying to find out what’s open and what’s not at the last minute.
This list will help you prepare ahead of time so you have more time to enjoy your family.
All LCBO and Beer stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Monday, Oct. 10.
Aurora:
- Town hall and Aurora Public Library will be closed Thanksgiving Day and will reopen on Oct. 11.
- Recreation centres will be operating on modified hours, which can be found at aurora.ca/thanksgiving weekend.
- The Aurora Seniors’ Centre is closed from Oct. 8 to 10.
- The Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex is hosting a holiday skate on Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Aurora Family Leisure Complex has a lane swim from 9 to 11 a.m. and leisure swim from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Waste collection remains the same.
East Gwillimbury:
- The Civic Centre and public libraries are closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Waste collection remains the same.
Newmarket:
- Newmarket town hall, Newmarket Public Library, Gorman outdoor pool, Seniors’ Meeting Place, Recreation Youth Centre and Sk8 Park, Elman W. Campbell Museum, Newmarket Theatre and town recreation facilities will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Newmarket’s Riverwalk Commons is open.
- Waste collection will continue as scheduled.
- Upper Canada Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Georgina:
- Georgina Civic Centre will be closed Oct. 10.
- Georgina gym, leisure pool, Stephen Leacock Theatre, Club 55, Pioneer Village, Sutton Arena, Ice Palace, animal shelter, public libraries, the Link and the ROC will all be closed.
- Waste collection is shifted by one day for the week.
King:
- All municipal offices and libraries will be closed for the holiday.
- Waste collection will remain the same.
Markham:
- Civic Centre and most public facilities are closed on Oct. 10 but the customer service line remains open, 905-477-7000.
- Markville Shopping Centre is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Pacific Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Angus Glen Community Centre has lane swims and parent and tot swim from 1 to 2 p.m. and public swim from 2 to 4 p.m.
- Cornell Community Centre is open for a lane swim and parent and tot swim from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and public swim from noon to 2 p.m.
- Thornhill Theraputic Pool hosts a parent and tot swim from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and therapy swim from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Waste collection remains the same.
Richmond Hill:
- Municipal offices, operations centre and public libraries are closed on Oct. 10.
- The Elgin West Pool will be open for a lane swim from 6:30 to 8 a.m., fun ‘n’ fit swim from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and leisure swim from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
- Waste collection remains the same.
Vaughan:
- The City of Vaughan municipal offices, including Vaughan City Hall and the Joint Operations Centre, will be closed for Thanksgiving. Offices will reopen on Oct. 11.
- Vaughan Animal Services and community centres will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10.
- Vaughan public libraries will be closed on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10.
- Vaughan Mills Mall is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Waste collection will not be affected.
Whitchurch-Stouffville:
- Municipal offices and town facilities are closed.
- Waste collection remains unaffected.
