The Mayor, members of Council and of the Vaughan Public Library Board officially opened the Civic Centre Resource Library on Saturday, September 10 at the Grand Opening Celebration. At Vaughan Public Libraries’ (VPL) ninth location, thousands of community members and their families enjoyed fun-filled activities such as demos in the library’s new digital media lab (includes a recording studio and green room), face painting, booktalks, storytimes and appearances by Kids’ CBC Patty & Bookaboo

“It is my sincerest pleasure to welcome you to Vaughan Public Libraries’ newest addition – the Civic Centre Resource Library,” says Devender Sandhu, Chair, Vaughan Public Libraries Board. “This technologically- advanced library provides not only a welcoming space for all Vaughan residents, it inspires creativity and innovation. With the new CREATE IT! space, people of all ages and experience can come together to perform and record music in the recording studio, create videos in the Green Room, and learn the latest technology such as the virtual reality world of the Oculus Rift and designing in 3D using Tinkercad. Like all VPL branches, we want to enrich, inspire and transform your life and I truly believe the Civic Centre Resource Library will do that.”

Vaughan Public Libraries offers welcoming destinations that educate, excite and empower the community. Annually, VPL welcomes over two million visitors making it one of the top leisure and information destinations within the City of Vaughan. VPL is more than just a place to borrow books. Each year we offer hundreds of programs for people of all ages, you can enjoy our incredible array of content everywhere – in the library, at home or on your handheld device.
