Quebec's one-year pilot project with the ride-hailing service Uber will now start in October — nearly two weeks later than scheduled.

Quebec's government had initially said the controversial deal would take effect on Sept. 29, but provincial laws only become official 15 days after they are published in the government's official newspaper, the Gazette officielle du Québec.

The province only published the details of the agreement on Friday, one day after the pilot project was slated to begin, so Uber's implementation across Quebec is postponed to Oct.14.

The last-minute entente between Uber and Quebec was struck in early September.
