The city of Vaughan is getting a boost in advanced health care with the construction of a new hospital

The Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will boast services for more than 500,000 people with modern surgical services, operating rooms, and advanced diagnostic imaging, according to the province.

Steven Del Duca, MPP for Vaughan, along with Parliamentary Assistant John Fraser attended the groundbreaking ceremony at Jane and Rutherford on Tuesday.

“Today’s hospital groundbreaking is the result of years of hard work and dedication on the part of many local advocates.” said Del Duca “This incredible achievement, made possible by a provincial investment of up to $1.3 billion, will support families in Vaughan for generations to come.”

The hospital is expected to have 342 beds on opening day including private accommodations for patients in acute care.

This is one of about 35 major hospital projects across the province under construction or in various stages of planning.
