A stretch of Hwy. 7 in Markham will be closed this week.
Hwy. 7 will be closed between Town Centre Boulevard and Warden Avenue as the centre Viva rapidway bus lanes are being constructed.
The stretch of Hwy. 7 will be closed Friday evening, Oct. 14, and is set to reopen late morning on Monday, Oct. 17.
Access for businesses and homes within the construction area will be maintained and all lighting will be pointed down and away from residences.
During this time, construction workers will be present 24/7 and there may be noise and traffic delays within the area.
Crews will be working to build the centre lanes of the newly widened road before winter weather and frost sets in.
As work is weather dependent, this overnight work may be rescheduled.
Drivers are reminded to reduce speed while driving through the area as sections of Hwy. 7 will be gravel during certain points of construction.
