Brendan Holly told councillors in camera Monday night he would be retiring in March following 14 years with New Tecumseth, the last two as its CAO.

Mr. Holly joined the Town in 2002 as Director of Development Services. He was part of the exodus of senior administrators that left the City of Vaughan following the election of Michael Di Biase as its mayor.

In one of his early roles in New Tecumseth, Mr. Holly led the restructuring of the public works department. In 2004 he was appointed Deputy CAO in addition to his technical and building department duties.

Mr. Holly was elevated to CAO when he replaced Terri Caron, who retired from the position in 2014 after 12 years. The two had also been management colleagues in Vaughan.

At this point there is no indication as to his replacement - whether it will come from internal or from outside the municipality. However, the early odds favour the elevation of Blaine Parkin, who was hired as New Tecumseth's Deputy CAO, in January 2015. Mr. Parkin had been Director of Corporate Asset Management for the City of Barrie, as well, Director of Strategic Services and Economic Development, Manager of Policy and Development and Policy and Program Engineer.
