Vaughan trucking terminal allowed

NRU
Jan. 13, 2016

In a December 18 decision, board member Jason Chee-Hing allowed an appeal in part by Amar Transport against the City of Vaughan’s 2010 official plan. Amar sought approval of a modified site-specific policy for its lands at 7290 Major Mackenzie Drive.

Amar’s proposed modification seeks to redesignate its property from prestige and general employment to general employment only. This would permit the permanent use of the site for a truck terminal with outside storage until the site becomes a corner lot through a future planning process.

The board noted that Amar will be required to submit a site-specific rezoning application to permit the use of the site for a truck terminal with outside storage.

Planner Ryan Guetter (Weston Consulting) gave evidence on behalf of Amar and in support of the appeal.

The board accepted Guetter’s evidence and allowed the appeal in part.

Solicitors involved in this decision were Patrick Harrington (Aird & Berlis) representing Amar Transport
Inc. and Dawne Jubb representing the City of Vaughan. (See OMB Case No. PL111148.)
